Ganesh is among the most popular of many deities of Kathmandu Valley. This popularity stems the fact that he is the one who is always worshipped first and the foremeost prior to the beginning of any ritual or ceremony. He is a symbol of success and an auspicious beginning. Ganesh, or Ganapati, is associated with good fortune. Here in this paubha, four armed manifestation of Ganesh is shown dancing on a mouse, his vehicle. He is dancing atop of sacred lotus, and holding objects that help destroy ignorance and his favorite fruit radish and sweet balls. Radish symbolizes that lord Ganesh eliminates obstacles from the root and sweet balls sysbolizes fruit of success.
