Ayurveda is an ancient medical science. The Dhanvantari is the god of all healing system. By his loving kindness to the sentient beings, suffering from sickness and disease is eliminated. The god Ayurveda is the main deity in this painting. He is adorned with four hands. Here, two of his major hands are in the barada (charity) and Abhaya (Protection), gesture and the other two hands hold mortals and pestle to make the medicine and vase of elixir (Amrit). He is standing on miraculous lotus and resembles the emerging from the sea of milk (Amrit). On the background, there is a tree with full blossom of plants, lowers and fruits, with medicinal properties. In the "Paubha" Mango, Neem, Bel fruit, and lots of vegetables with healing properities for human are beautifully painted blosooming on the tree. This painting is unique in the feature of the traditional art form. This painting is original composition of the artist Lok Chitrakar. This is the counterpart of the Buddhist god the Bhaisajya Tathagat. It is believed that if the god Dhanwantari is worshipped every day, the worshiper and his family will not get any kind of sickness. The artist has tried to display his ability of subtle depiction and aesthetical value by using subtle lines and rich tone of green.
