Inspired from Grant Wood’s painting titled “American Gothic”, one of the most familiar images in 20th century American art, during my visit in 2009, a sculptural replica of the couple titled “God Bless America” was on display on Michigan Avenue: Magnificent Mile. The juxtaposition of the sculpture amongst the high rise buildings of Chicago similar to Wood’s opinion on his creation that “you are what you live in”. His pairing of architectural style with “the kind of people he fancied should live in that house” provoked me to create this piece with the objective to illuminate his idea/concept through the iconic image easily recognized by most art enthusiasts to the masses in Nepal.

Note: Please note that the actual colors of the Painting may vary due to differences in monitor color depth and make. The color shown is as close as possible to the actual colors of the Painting.
